Atlas Honda, a dominant force in Pakistan’s motorcycle industry, has announced its plan to launch an electric scooter during the current fiscal year. The decision follows the introduction of the National Electric Vehicle Policy, aimed at promoting clean, affordable, and sustainable transport.

In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company stated it is collaborating with regulatory authorities to obtain the required approvals for a smooth launch. The electric scooter, specifically designed for Pakistani consumers, will be introduced after successful completion of quality assurance and road testing.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, emphasized that the new EV policy reflects the Prime Minister’s vision for a greener Pakistan. A key objective of the policy is to ensure that 30% of all new vehicle sales by 2030 are electric, leading to annual savings of 2.07 billion litres of fuel and nearly $1 billion in foreign exchange.

Atlas Honda previously revealed its electric scooter, the BENLY e, in a soft launch at its Sheikhupura plant in 2023. Now, the company is ready to scale production and officially enter the market.

Industry analysts believe Atlas Honda’s entry into the EV sector could accelerate the shift to electric mobility, especially with over 26 million motorcycles currently contributing to carbon emissions across Pakistan. Road traffic remains a significant source of air pollution, and the introduction of electric two-wheelers offers a promising solution.
